The Knowledge and Innovation Challenge for Change (KICK) is a nationwide initiative designed to promote knowledge-driven and innovative solutions that contribute to inclusive and sustainable development in the Philippines.
The focus of this programme includes social entrepreneurship for livelihoods and decent work, youth-led change, quality education, reduced inequalities, climate action, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, life below water, life on land, resilience building, environmental sustainability, circular economy practices, zero-waste solutions, resource protection, nature-based solutions, innovation for social impact, and cross-disciplinary approaches to community challenges.
Winners of the challenge will receive grants of up to ₱2,500,000 each to support the testing, scaling, or replication of their solutions. The funding structure, including release schedules and conditions, will be aligned with available resources and programme objectives.
KICK is a platform created by the Peace and Equity Foundation to bring together changemakers, innovators, and communities in developing and sharing practical solutions that can be replicated and scaled across the country. It is designed not only as a competition but also as a collaborative space that encourages learning, action, and innovation for social good.
The challenge is structured around key thematic areas that address major development priorities. These include innovative social enterprise models that promote sustainable livelihoods, dignified employment, and reduced inequalities. It also includes youth-led initiatives focused on addressing social challenges and improving opportunities for young people.
Another major theme focuses on resilience, sustainability, and climate solutions, supporting innovations that respond to climate change, environmental risks, and sustainable resource management. This includes efforts related to circular economy approaches, zero-waste systems, and environmental conservation.
The programme also includes an open category for innovative ideas that do not fall under predefined themes but demonstrate strong potential for social impact and cross-sector relevance.
Eligible applicants are Philippine-based, legally registered organisations with innovative solutions to social challenges. The programme includes two implementation tracks: a proven track for existing projects that have demonstrated positive impact within the last five years and are ready for scaling or replication, and an emerging track for early-stage ideas, prototypes, or new innovations aimed at supporting underserved and marginalised communities.
