Nominations are now open for the respect. Awards to recognize outstanding efforts to create a respectful, welcoming, and inclusive community.
Two respect. Awards will be presented on March 21, 2024, during Diversity Thunder Bay’s 18th Annual Celebration event, which recognizes the United Nations’ International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
The respect. Awards are sponsored by Diversity Thunder Bay.
What is respect.?

The respect. Award Recipients Will Receive:
- Recognition at Diversity Thunder Bay’s 18th Annual Celebration event
- A plaque recognizing their contribution
- Acknowledgment on the City of Thunder Bay website and social media channels
Eligibility Criteria
- Individual must be a resident of Thunder Bay.
- Organization/business must be located in the city of Thunder Bay.
- Nominees must embody values, beliefs and behaviours that recognize the value of human dignity.
- An individual, business or organization that demonstrates leadership that promotes respectful behaviour, and fosters the inclusion of culturally and socially diverse peoples.
- An individual, business or organization that goes above and beyond their employment expectations and responsibilities to exemplify the principles of respect.
- Recipients of a previous respect. Award are not eligible.
- Individuals holding political office are not eligible.
- One respect. Award will be presented for each category.
