BNP Paribas El Djazair, as a long-standing partner of the Algeria Startup Challenge, is proud to announce the launch of the 4th edition of the Greentech Challenge under the theme of the circular economy.
Aims
- The Open Innovation Challenge aims to identify, strengthen and support innovative and sustainable solutions developed by Algerian startups and entrepreneurs committed to the ecological transition.
Goals
- The Greentech Challenge aims to foster sustainable solutions and boost entrepreneurship in Algeria. Led by BNP Paribas El Djazaïr, it supports innovative startups to accelerate the transition to a green and resilient economy.
- Encouraging the emergence of a new generation of startups
- Accelerating the maturity of the startup ecosystem
- Identify and support the future gems of Algerian Greentech
- Promoting responsible growth
- Facilitate access to financing and market opportunities
- Create an ecosystem of committed actors
Themes
- The startups they are looking for revolve around key themes of the circular economy, particularly in the following areas but not limited to:
- Ecodesign: Design of sustainable, modular, reusable or recyclable products.
- Extending lifespan: Repair, reconditioning, maintenance, reuse of products to reduce waste and preserve resources.
- Usage economy: Rental, subscription, sharing of goods and services.
- Reuse & Repurposing: Giving products a second life – Recycling materials, equipment or products at the end of their first use.
- Recycling & waste recovery: Technologies for sorting, collecting, treating or transforming waste into resources.
- Sustainable sourcing: Promoting local, renewable, recycled or low environmental impact raw materials.
- Industrial & territorial ecology: Synergies between actors in the same territory to optimize the use of different resources and flows.
- Responsible consumption: Tools or services that promote more sustainable behavior among citizens and businesses.

- For this edition they are favoring established startups , already having a presence on the market and a demonstrated impact.
- Early-stage: Startup in the initial phase with a functional prototype (MVP) and initial market validations.
- Established startup: Operational solution, with initial customers or users, and proof of traction.
- Scale-up: A fast-growing company with a proven business model and ambitions for expansion.
- For this edition they are favoring established startups , already having a presence on the market and a demonstrated impact.
- Solution:
- It must be:
- An ambitious, achievable and impactful solution, ready to transform the green economy.
- Responding to a concrete need in the Algerian market (at least) with strong adoption potential.
- Brings a differentiating innovation with a technological dimension.
- Be technically viable and adapted to the infrastructure and maturity of the market.
Aligns with the principles of the circular economy. - Be supported by a startup capable of executing and developing its solution.
