Deadline Date: January 09, 2026
The Music BC Business Travel Grant Programme supports companies undertaking business development activities through travel to key music industry markets.
Applicants must submit completed applications by the deadline and ensure their travel falls within the specified intake dates, seeking guidance if timelines overlap. Only applicants with no outstanding reports from previous grants may receive new funding. The program covers up to 75% of eligible expenses, to a maximum of $2,500 CAD, and all confirmed guarantees, fees, public funding, or other grants must be declared, ensuring total public support does not exceed 75% of eligible costs.
Each application must list one company representative, with a maximum of two allowed per initiative, and only one application may be submitted per initiative, while applicants may submit up to two applications per deadline. Funding cannot be transferred between initiatives, and applicants must represent B.C.-based for-profit companies supporting local talent, meeting residency and operational requirements. Eligible travel must involve industry conferences, trade missions, or business meetings at least 300 km away, with confirmed itineraries; award show travel is not eligible. Artists may also apply if traveling strictly for business development, not for performances or showcases. Successful applicants must submit a final report with outcomes, proof of expenses, and must acknowledge support from Music BC, Creative BC, and the Province of British Columbia in all related materials.
The programme outlines a structured process requiring applicants to demonstrate clear planning, measurable goals, and confirmed activities before applying. Each initiative must provide a detailed itinerary that includes pending and confirmed meetings, with at least half of them confirmed. Applicants must also articulate why the chosen market is relevant to their business at this time and how they plan to evaluate their outcomes.
Funding under this programme cannot exceed the stipulated proportion of eligible expenses and cannot be combined with other public sources beyond the defined limit. Applicants must also ensure that all previous grants or honorariums from Music BC have been fully completed before submitting new applications.
Eligibility is restricted to B.C.-based for-profit companies, partnerships, or sole proprietorships that primarily support B.C. talent and meet residency and operational requirements. The programme also allows artists to apply when travel is for business development rather than performance-based initiatives.
To receive the remaining grant funds after the initial disbursement, successful applicants must submit a final report summarizing results, outlining secured or potential business opportunities, and providing complete financial documentation. Proper acknowledgement of Music BC, Creative BC, and the Province of British Columbia is mandatory across project-related materials.
