The Aerospace Accelerator Program is inviting applications to support early-stage aerospace startups by providing funding, technology development resources, professional development training, and expert guidance to help them develop commercially viable solutions.
The program focuses on technology-driven solutions to important aerospace challenges through grant funding, technology development resources, expert support, business skills development, and access to the Aerospace Innovation Hub.
The Aerospace Accelerator Program helps early-stage startups strengthen their business capabilities while advancing the development of their technology. In addition to financial support, they receive individualized guidance from expert advisors, a structured curriculum designed to improve entrepreneurial and business management skills, and access to the Aerospace Innovation Hub.
The program provides funding of up to $200,000 over a duration of two years. The funding includes salary support for one founder, enabling them to dedicate themselves full-time to growing their startup while achieving program milestones.
To be eligible, the founder must have the legal right to work in Canada for the duration of the program, serve as a full-time founding executive of the startup, own at least 25% or a simple majority of the company’s outstanding shares (whichever is greater), and possess advanced knowledge and deep technical expertise in an aerospace-related field.
The startup must have a clear and timely plan to bring a commercially viable product or service to market. It must have been incorporated in Alberta or federally within the last two years, or have raised no more than $500,000 in dilutive funding. Although affiliation with the University of Calgary is not required, the founder must reside in Calgary during the program and maintain a company presence at the Aerospace Innovation Hub.
