The NHS Fit for the Future Accelerator: Business Incubation Stream is a dedicated programme designed to empower startups and innovators to create affordable, clinically aligned, and commercially viable healthcare solutions that improve patient care and drive economic growth in the UK.
The focus is on enabling the development of clinically aligned, commercially viable, and affordable innovations that will transform how care is delivered and contribute to UK economic growth. Participants choose the support stream that best matches their stage of development, whether they are exploring a concept, building a product, or ready to trial in clinical settings. The programme helps innovators overcome barriers to market entry, supports progression across TRLs, and ensures every solution is designed with end-user adoption in mind. Applicants should ensure that proposed solutions are scalable and affordable for the NHS and should be coupled to community-based diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment approaches for preventative care.
The accelerator provides targeted funding, technical expertise, and strategic partnerships to strengthen healthcare innovation pipelines across the UK. It aims to bridge the gap between clinical needs and market-ready products, ensuring that innovative ideas translate into tangible improvements in patient outcomes.
The support package includes £70,000 in MVP development funding, a £10,000 technical voucher, access to specialist facilities, tailored technical and commercial support, and expert coaching. Together, these resources aim to accelerate the growth of promising MedTech ventures, ensuring their readiness for clinical integration and long-term sustainability.
The Business Incubation Stream has been designed to help early-stage ventures refine their solutions and prepare for market launch. This 18-month programme supports post-proof-of-concept startups in developing their Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and building an investable business model.
