MobilityXlab Program in Mobility and Connectivity for Startups

Deadline: 4 October 2024

MobilityXlab is offering startups and emerging companies with pioneering ideas within mobility and connectivity the opportunity to accelerate with the six partner companies: Magna, Polestar, Volvo Group, Zeekr Technology Europe and Zenseact.

Focus Areas

  • Electromobility & Energy Systems
    • They’re seeking innovative startups focused on cutting-edge technologies that enhance battery performance, optimize energy efficiency, offer seamless user experience, and integrate smart energy management. They are particularly interested in technologies such as battery and thermal management, next-gen power sources, electric drive systems, grid integration, charging infrastructure, EV luxury customizations, advanced displays, and aerodynamics. Additionally, they’re exploring lightweight materials, LED lighting, and energy storage systems. Join to showcase your pioneering solutions and collaborate with leading corporates to accelerate the transition to enhance future electric vehicles’ efficiency and user experience.
  • Autonomous Enablers
    • They’re seeking disruptive startups specializing in AD/ADAS technologies, scalable cloud infrastructure, and essential simulation tools. They’re looking for solutions that enhance safety compliance, advanced 3D visualization, data handling, real-time decision-making, fleet-level analysis, high-precision mapping, and localization. They want to collaborate with you if you’re advancing hardware and software for autonomous driving platforms, ensuring safety, or enhancing self-driving capabilities.
  • Connected Services
    • They’re seeking visionary startups in Connected Services and Advanced Connectivity Technologies. Key areas of interest include V2X, immersive technology (VR/AR), infotainment, assistants, and location-based services. They also focus on productivity services, connected safety features, fleet management, and integrated transport systems. If you specialize in reliable digital twins, cybersecurity, 5G-enabled technologies, Vehicle payment or insurance Tech, or 3rd party vehicle data services, join to drive innovation and accessibility in the Mobility sector. Apply today and help reshape the future of connected mobility experiences!
  • SustainTech
    • They seek innovative startups focused on green manufacturing, reusability, recycling materials, and circular design and economy principles. Key areas of interest include recycling platforms, used batteries, sustainability tracking, supply chain transparency, ethical sourcing, and compliance. If your expertise lies in recycled and bio-based materials or reducing emissions, they want to collaborate with you to drive sustainability forward.
  • Applied AI
    • They seek pioneers in in-car assistants, voice control, and personalization to enhance driving experiences. Are you enabling corporate AI infrastructure and computation? Are you utilizing AI to automate, add, or augment real-world business use cases, such as digital twin technology for advanced testing or AI-driven risk management in supply chains? They’re interested in startups integrating computer vision, NLP, and deep reinforcement learning into manufacturing processes and customer experience. Join the accelerator to revolutionize automotive innovation and drive business adoption across diverse applied AI use cases.

What’s in it for you?

  • Collaboration from Day One
    • MobilityXlab focuses on the joint development of solutions. From the start of the program, you will get an assigned partner lead, an internal champion responsible for the continuous progress of your collaboration.
  • Access to Global Players in the Same Place
    • Startups are selected by two of the partners to join the program. Still, they get to network and access to all of the partners and industry leaders: Magna, Polestar, Volvo Group, Zeekr Technology Europe and Zenseact.
  • A Chance at Commercial Contract
    • The structured framework for collaboration has resulted in over 100 validation projects and 20 accelerations (commercial contracts) since its inception. This structure helps startups validate their technologies and potentially secure commercial contracts with the partners.
  • You Keep Your Equity
    • MobilityXlab is a non-profit neutral platform hosted by Lindholmen Science Park. They don’t take equity or charge fees for startups to participate in the program.

Program Structure

  • With a minimum six-month duration, the program is divided into 3 stages
    • Discover
      • This is where you as a startup together with the partner company set the scope, and agree on NDA and budget for the POC.
    • Validate
      • The second phase is the Validation phase, during which you conduct the POC to demonstrate the feasibility of your solution. Depending on the scope, the second phase can take several months.
    • Accelerate
      • The longer-term goal for the program is for startups to accelerate together with the partner companies. After 6 months, a startup can get a 6-month extension, or become Alumni and remain a member of MobilityXlab’s community for the future.

What are they looking for?

  • The program is stage agnostic, but startups must have a functioning prototype, be a registered company in any country, and be able to show traction (PPCs/pilots with OEMs/Tier 1).
