Centre of Excellence Efficiency Augmentation Challenge Program 2.0 (India)

Deadline: 5 September 2024

The Centre of Excellence on Efficiency Augmentation (CoE-EA) invites the proposals/applications from Indian Start-ups/companies who are working in Emerging Industry 4.0 Technologies who would like to use CoE-EA Innovation and Development Lab Equipment.

Centre of Excellence on Efficiency Augmentation is setup by STPI in collaboration with the Government of Karnataka, supported by HPEIPL at Jayanagar, Bengaluru. The CoE is the first of its kind in India which is an immersion of innovation, creativity and new business development for augmentation of the efficiency in all the business verticals, service sector & also in Government operations/projects leveraging emerging Industry 4.0 technologies.

The best-in-class infrastructural facility located at Jayanagar the heart of the Bengaluru City has the following:

  • Innovation and Development Lab equipped with latest tools/equipment to support startups to build products/solutions in the identified domains.
  • Incubation facility of 16,000 Sq. ft. (100+ Plug n Play incubation seats).
  • Training Facility.

Objective

  • To Support start-ups that would build products and solutions to increase the efficiency of the industrial production and operations, service sector, and Government projects, leveraging the emerging technologies.

Focus Areas

  • Smart Manufacturing
    • Adaptive Manufacturing Systems for Custom Production
      • Develop adaptive manufacturing systems that use AI and machine learning to customize production processes based on real-time demand and specifications. The system should enable flexible manufacturing lines that can switch between products with minimal downtime.
      • Custom production in traditional manufacturing setups is time-consuming and costly. Adaptive systems can reduce setup times by up to 50%, enhancing flexibility and responsiveness to market demands.
    • Real-Time Quality Control and Defect Detection
      • Create an AI-powered real-time quality control system that uses computer vision and sensor data to detect defects in manufacturing processes. The system should provide instant feedback and corrective actions to minimize waste and ensure product quality.
      • Maintaining high product quality in manufacturing is critical but challenging. Traditional quality control methods are often slow and manual. An AI-powered system can improve defect detection accuracy by up to 30%, reducing waste and ensuring consistent product quality.
  • Home/Office Automation
    • Intelligent Space Utilization in Offices
      • Create smart home and office automation solutions that enhance user experience, prioritize energy efficiency, and adapt to user behaviour – “Redefining Living and Working Spaces”
      • Develop integrative solutions for seamless connectivity and automation of diverse smart devices within office environments – “Connecting Devices, Enhancing Productivity”
    • Automated Health and Safety Monitoring in Smart Buildings
      • Create a comprehensive health and safety monitoring system for smart buildings that integrates air quality sensors, occupancy tracking, and emergency response protocols. The system should provide real-time alerts and automated responses to ensure a safe environment.
      • Create a comprehensive health and safety monitoring system for smart buildings that integrates air quality sensors, occupancy tracking, and emergency response protocols. The system should provide real-time alerts and automated responses to ensure a safe environment.
  • Smart Energy
    • AI-Driven Energy Consumption Forecasting
      • Develop an AI-driven energy consumption forecasting system that uses historical data, weather patterns, and usage trends to predict energy demand accurately. The system should help utility providers manage supply and reduce energy wastage.
      • Accurate energy demand forecasting is essential for efficient energy management. Traditional methods often fail to account for dynamic factors, leading to energy wastage and blackouts. An AI-driven system can improve forecasting accuracy by up to 20%, optimizing energy distribution.
    • Blockchain-Based Peer-to-Peer Energy Trading
      • Design a blockchain-based platform for peer-to-peer energy trading that allows consumers to buy and sell excess renewable energy directly. The platform should ensure transparency, security, and efficient transaction management.
      • Integrating decentralized energy sources into the grid is challenging. Traditional systems lack transparency and efficiency. A blockchain-based platform can enable efficient peer-to-peer energy trading, promoting the use of renewable energy and enhancing grid stability.
  • Smart Water
    • Urban Flood Management and Prediction
      • Develop an AI-powered flood prediction and management system that integrates data from weather forecasts, river levels, and urban drainage systems. The system should provide real-time alerts and automated responses to mitigate flood risks.
      • Urban flooding in Indian cities causes significant damage and disruption. Traditional flood management systems are reactive rather than proactive, leading to delayed responses and increased damage. An AI-powered system can predict floods with up to 90% accuracy, reducing damage and enhancing urban resilience.
    • Smart Water Quality Control for Industries
      • Design a smart water quality monitoring and control system for industrial processes. The system should use IoT sensors and real-time data analytics to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and optimize water usage.
      • Industrial water pollution is a major environmental concern in India. Many industries lack efficient water quality control mechanisms, leading to contamination of water bodies. A smart system can improve compliance and reduce water pollution by up to 40%.

Who can apply?

  • The start-up must be incorporated as a
    • Private Limited Company (as defined in the Companies Act, 2013) or
    • Registered Partnership Firm (Regd. under section 59 of the Partnership Act, 1932) or
    • Limited Liability Partnership (under the Liability Partnership Act 2008)
