The Matching-Grant Facility for Agribusinesses is now accepting applications from eligible agribusinesses operating in or sourcing from six target provinces of Lao PDR.
The focus areas of the facility include sustainable agricultural production systems, development of deforestation-free agricultural value chains, promotion of climate-resilient farming practices, improvement of market opportunities for farmers and agribusinesses, reduction of forest degradation and deforestation, and contribution to sustainable economic development in rural areas.
The total available grant funding under the facility amounts to EUR 1,800,000. The matching-grant funding available per agribusiness ranges from EUR 5,000 to EUR 50,000. Eligible expenditures under the facility include costs directly linked to the acquisition of productive assets and essential implementation needs such as transport within Lao PDR, installation and initial training, and first-year maintenance or warranty services, provided they are verifiable and compliant with national laws.
Eligible applicants are privately owned agribusinesses legally registered and operating in Lao PDR that have been active for at least two years. They are required to operate in or source from the targeted provinces of Sayaboury, Luang Prabang, Houaphan, Oudomxay, Luang Namtha, and Bokeo. Applicants must demonstrate financial and operational capacity, maintain proper financial records, and show readiness to contribute at least 50% of the investment cost.
Full legal compliance, including registration, licensing, tax obligations, accounting requirements, and adherence to labour and social security laws, is required. Businesses must also demonstrate environmental and social responsibility, including commitment to deforestation-free practices, compliance with applicable regulations, and fair engagement with farmers through appropriate contractual arrangements. Integrity standards are strictly enforced, including zero tolerance for corruption, fraud, coercion, discrimination, and other prohibited practices.
