Deadline Date: June 28, 2026
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Moldova, through the European Union-funded project “Enabling an Inclusive Green Transition in the Republic of Moldova,” has launched a call for proposals to support 30 sustainable businesses and startups in adopting green and innovative practices.
The initiative focuses on supporting SMEs in the transition to green practices, including energy efficiency, energy audits, renewable energy, cleaner production technologies, waste reduction and circularity, and process modernization. It also promotes innovative green SMEs through the testing and scaling of innovative green solutions, the adoption of new technologies in green sectors, and the development of solutions with market potential. In addition, the program supports startups in the circular economy through reuse, repair, eco-design, circular business models, and solutions addressing waste streams such as plastics, textiles, and electronic waste.
The project “Facilitating an Inclusive Green Transition in the Republic of Moldova” is funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP to help advance Moldova’s commitments under the European Green Deal and the Association Agreement with the European Union. The initiative seeks to strengthen the country’s transition towards a green, competitive, resilient, and resource-efficient economy.
A total of 30 beneficiaries will be selected across three support categories. The first category, Green Development Projects, will support up to 10 SMEs with grants of up to USD 15,000, covering up to 80 percent of project costs. The second category, Green Innovation Projects, will support up to 10 innovative SMEs with grants of up to USD 20,000, covering up to 70 percent of project costs. The third category, Start-up Projects in the Circular Economy, will support up to 10 startups with grants of up to USD 20,000, covering up to 90 percent of project costs.
Selected enterprises and startups will receive equipment and services to facilitate business development and the implementation of green initiatives. Investment projects may focus on renewable energy, resource efficiency, cleaner production technologies, circular economy solutions, innovative green technologies, and waste management systems.
Projects will be implemented between July 2026 and July/August 2027, depending on the selected category. Applicants must provide a financial contribution ranging from 10 percent to 30 percent of project costs, depending on the support lot. For the SME-focused categories, applicants must demonstrate business sustainability and provide financial statements for the previous two years.
The competition is open to legal entities, including micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, individual entrepreneurs, and individuals intending to establish a startup under the circular economy category. Priority will be given to businesses founded or managed by women and young entrepreneurs, reflecting the project’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable economic development.
