Deadline Date: June 17, 2026
The TAS ACCO VET Sector Strengthening Program 2026 is a government-funded initiative designed to support Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations in Tasmania to strengthen their role and capacity within the vocational education and training sector.
The program supports initiatives that build the capability and capacity of Tasmanian ACCOs to deliver or enhance VET-related services. Key objectives include strengthening organisational readiness to deliver training, improving support services for Aboriginal people engaging in VET, and expanding partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). The program also supports projects that address workforce and capability gaps, improve access to training pathways, develop or upgrade training resources and materials, and assist ACCOs in progressing toward becoming RTOs.
Eligible applicants must be Tasmanian-based Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations that meet the ACCO definition, including being incorporated, not-for-profit, community-controlled, and governed by a majority Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander governing body. Applicants must demonstrate financial viability, provide financial statements for the 2024–25 financial year, hold appropriate insurance including public liability coverage, and comply with child and youth safety frameworks. Partnerships are allowed; however, the lead applicant must be an eligible ACCO. All projects must be implemented within Tasmania and align with the program’s VET sector strengthening objectives.
The program provides grant funding ranging from AUD 2,000 to AUD 200,000 per project. A total funding pool of AUD 500,000 is available. Funding may be used for organisational planning, governance and succession activities, workforce development, professional training, development of training materials and tools, evaluation of existing services, and partnership development with RTOs. A portion of project costs, including eligible overheads, may be covered up to 15 percent of total funding. All funded projects must be completed and expenditure finalised by 30 September 2028.
Applications are assessed competitively by a judging panel based on alignment with program objectives, organisational capacity and capability, and the quality and feasibility of the proposed project. Evaluation also considers the relevance of the project to VET sector strengthening, innovation in addressing workforce or training gaps, and the strength of partnerships and implementation planning. Funding is awarded to proposals demonstrating clear outcomes for Aboriginal training participation, sector development, and sustainable organisational impact.
