The Greenovation Renewable Energy for Livelihood Challenge is an innovation initiative aimed at supporting early-stage entrepreneurs developing clean energy solutions to strengthen rural livelihoods in India.
The Focus areas, include decentralized renewable energy, rural livelihoods, clean energy innovation, solar-powered irrigation, clean cold storage, sustainable farming, rural entrepreneurship, energy access, scalable renewable energy solutions, livelihood resilience, productivity improvement, and income generation.
The challenge addresses the difficulties faced by millions of smallholder farmers and rural entrepreneurs who continue to experience unreliable access to energy. Limited energy access affects productivity, business growth, and income opportunities in rural areas.
The initiative highlights the role of decentralized renewable energy systems in creating more sustainable and profitable livelihood opportunities. Solutions such as solar-powered irrigation systems and clean cold storage facilities are helping rural communities improve operational efficiency and reduce dependency on traditional energy systems.
Supported by Startup India and DPIIT, the challenge is designed to encourage innovators working at the intersection of renewable energy and livelihood development. It aims to identify scalable ideas that can create long-term impact in rural and agricultural sectors.
Selected participants can receive cash prizes of up to INR 2 lakhs. The challenge also offers opportunities for equity and debt support of up to INR 1 crore to help promising ventures scale their solutions.
