The Major Stream is inviting grant applications to support creative industry practitioners to strengthen marketing and publicity efforts that enhance visibility and generate sales.
The primary focus areas of this grant include marketing and publicity support, improving visibility for creative projects and businesses, generating sales, demonstrating commercial intent within projects, and encouraging business growth beyond the applicant’s current status.
The Marketing Grant – Major Stream is designed to support larger-scale marketing initiatives by providing funding assistance for approved projects. Eligible projects may receive up to 50% of the approved project budget, with a maximum contribution of $25,000 per applicant per fiscal year, whichever amount is lower. An applicant’s total support across any related entities, including single-purpose companies, parent companies, or businesses where they hold ownership or majority stake, cannot exceed $25,000 in a fiscal year. Applicants are also limited to one Marketing – Micro Grant per fiscal year.
Eligible applicants must be active practitioners within the creative industries recognized under The Creative Saskatchewan Act (2013). These industries include book publishing, craft and visual arts, digital game development, film and television, live performing arts, and music. Applicants must also demonstrate commercial intent within their project and show a clear ambition to grow their business beyond its current level.
Support is also connected to several industry associations that may assist applicants during the application process. These include the Saskatchewan Craft Council, SaskBooks, SaskGalleries, SaskInteractive, SaskMusic, the Saskatchewan Association of Theatre Professionals, and ScreenSask.
Applicants must remain in good standing with Creative Saskatchewan, as defined by the program’s requirements. Eligibility extends to corporations, groups such as recording or performing musicians, non-profits, collectives, and individuals, provided they meet residency, taxation, and operational requirements within Saskatchewan.
Corporations must be legally incorporated or registered to operate in Saskatchewan, have majority ownership by Saskatchewan residents, maintain a permanent establishment in the province, and have filed a Saskatchewan income tax return for the previous taxation year. Groups, non-profits, and collectives must also meet similar residency, establishment, and tax filing requirements.
Individuals must have filed a Saskatchewan income tax return for the previous year in which they apply for support. In cases where individuals have recently returned to Saskatchewan and have not yet filed taxes, they may provide valid Saskatchewan identification such as a driver’s licence or SGI-issued photo ID.
