Call for Proposals: Sustainable Small Grants Programme

Deadline Date: May 31, 2026

The Sustainable Small Grants Programme offers to support community-driven and innovative solutions aimed at reducing plastic waste, advancing circular economy practices, and empowering local communities across selected Caribbean island states.

The programme focuses on reducing plastic waste leakage through inclusive and scalable solutions; advancing circular economy systems by promoting recycling, reuse, and sustainable business models; and empowering women, youth, and micro, small, and medium enterprises through economic opportunities linked to plastic waste management and resource recovery. It also prioritises upstream and midstream interventions such as waste reduction, reuse systems, and material circularity, alongside community-based actions that support sustainable environmental outcomes.

The programme is designed to support community organisations, civil society groups, small enterprises, and local actors in implementing innovative, locally driven initiatives that address plastic waste challenges. It encourages solutions that strengthen recycling systems, promote circular economy practices, and extend the lifecycle of materials within local economies.

The total funding allocation for the programme is EUR 400,000, distributed equally across Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, Saint Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Individual grants range from EUR 30,000 to EUR 80,000 depending on project scope and ambition. All funded projects must be completed within a maximum duration of 12 months, with all activities concluding no later than 1 August 2027.

Eligible projects should prioritise recyclable plastics such as PET, HDPE, and PP, avoid complex composite materials unless local solutions exist, and ensure compatibility with local recycling systems. Projects must demonstrate economic viability, including feasible collection and recycling processes, and establish local or regional markets for recycled materials or products.

Eligible applicants include legally registered entities within participating countries that demonstrate relevant experience, leadership inclusion of women and youth, strong monitoring and evaluation systems, and a commitment to inclusivity. Each organisation may submit only one application, and all applicants must hold a valid institutional bank account with multiple authorised signatories.
