The Hyundai Innovation Challenge 2026 is a 6-month innovation initiative designed to partner with high-potential startups developing cutting-edge solutions across electrification, new mobility, connectivity, ADAS, AI-driven tools and next-generation vehicle technologies.
The focus areas of the challenge include smart interior materials, ADAS systems, vehicle range optimisation, in-vehicle experience, sustainable interior materials, new revenue streams, vertical shop floor optimization, remote monitoring of EV charging assets, cost-effective industrial edge computing/AI, automation of material or parts feeding in assembly lines, real-time asset tracking and management, mobility-as-a-service platforms, and integration of battery energy storage systems with renewable energy in EV charging stations.
The program is designed to bring startups into close collaboration with Hyundai’s ecosystem, including its motor, engineering, and innovation arms, enabling them to co-develop real-world proof-of-concepts that can accelerate commercialization. By leveraging Hyundai’s research and development capabilities, technical infrastructure, and market presence, selected startups will gain valuable exposure and practical validation of their solutions.
Participants will benefit from opportunities to test and validate their technologies within Hyundai’s engineering environment, ensuring that their innovations meet real-world performance and scalability requirements. The initiative also offers advisory support from Hyundai’s subject matter experts, helping startups refine their solutions, align with industry standards, and strengthen their market positioning.
In addition to technical collaboration, the program provides potential pathways for future investment and access to Hyundai’s customer base, creating strong prospects for growth and long-term partnerships. Selected startups will also receive grants to support proof-of-concept development, enabling them to build and demonstrate their ideas effectively.
To be eligible, applicants must be registered business entities, ensuring that the program engages startups with the capability to execute and scale their innovations.
