The Silver Mettle Program is a community-based initiative designed to support women aged 55 and above in building confidence and starting their own small businesses in Canada.
The program supports entrepreneurship development, small business creation, skills training, confidence building, community engagement, and practical business learning tailored specifically for women over 55.
This program is designed for women who are unemployed, underemployed, or seeking new economic opportunities and are interested in starting a solo business while gaining practical skills and support within a community setting.
The program is delivered through a combination of online and in-person sessions, providing participants with access to facilitators, expert guidance, and peer support, with activities taking place in the Greater Toronto Area.
Participation in the program is fully funded and free of cost, with limited seats available, offering structured learning and support valued at approximately $1,600 for selected participants.
The initiative focuses on creating a supportive environment that reflects the lived experiences of mature women, enabling participants to build sustainable business ideas and improve their economic independence.
Applicants must be women aged 55 or older, reside in the Greater Toronto Area, and be able to participate in the program sessions, with selection based on eligibility and program fit.
The program is scheduled to begin in May 2026, and applications must be submitted before the stated deadline, with a limited number of participants selected for each cohort.
