The Forestry Industry Supply Chain Support Program is inviting applications to support businesses affected by reduced hardwood supply due to harvesting restrictions linked to the proposed Great Koala National Park.
The program focuses on providing financial assistance to impacted businesses whose hardwood or by-product supply has been reduced due to changes in supply arrangements, reducing operational impacts on these businesses, delivering short-term targeted financial assistance to offset increased costs of hardwood and by-product goods and freight, and easing the immediate financial burden caused by disruptions in supplier supply chains. Grant amount: Up to $100,000.
The Forestry Industry Supply Chain Support Program has been announced by the NSW Government to assist businesses that have been affected by a moratorium on timber harvesting within the proposed boundary of the Great Koala National Park. The program is intended to support supply chain stability for businesses that rely heavily on hardwood and related by-products sourced from affected sawmills or contractors.
Eligible applicants include businesses operating in Australia as sole traders, partnerships, trusts, or companies that hold an active Australian Business Number and are registered with the Australian Taxation Office. Applicants must demonstrate that at least half of their hardwood or by-product supply comes from a sawmill or contractor impacted by reduced wood supply agreements due to the harvesting moratorium. Supporting documentation such as contracts or supply agreements is required to confirm eligibility.
The program offers grants of up to one hundred thousand dollars to help offset increased operational costs resulting from supply chain disruptions. The financial assistance is intended to reduce pressure on businesses that have experienced a decline in material availability and rising freight or procurement costs due to reduced supply from affected sources.
By targeting businesses most affected by the supply changes, the program aims to stabilise operations in the short term and reduce the immediate economic strain caused by disruptions in the hardwood supply chain.
