The Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has launched Nurture Cohort 4, a pre-incubation program aimed at identifying and supporting early-stage startups across India.
The program focuses on sustainability, road safety, skill development, air purification, industrial safety, merchandise, mobility-tech, social entrepreneurship, and areas beyond mobility.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited, a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan, is the largest passenger car manufacturer in India and has played a pivotal role in transforming the country’s automobile industry. From the launch of the iconic Maruti 800 to a diverse portfolio of 16 car models with over 150 variants, the company has established a strong presence with manufacturing facilities in Gurgaon, Manesar, and Kharkhoda, along with an advanced R&D center in Rohtak.
India’s automobile sector is among the largest globally, ranking third in size, with Maruti Suzuki holding an approximate 40 percent market share and achieving annual sales volumes close to 2 million units. Building on this leadership, the company has introduced Nurture Cohort 4 in collaboration with IIM Calcutta Innovation Park to promote grassroots innovation, particularly targeting startups in the East, Northeast, and Central regions of India.
The initiative is designed to provide early-stage startups with structured mentorship and industry exposure to help them transform their ideas into viable business solutions. Through regional idea hunts, startups across the country can present their innovations to senior leadership from Maruti Suzuki and IIMCIP.
Selected startups will gain access to a wide range of benefits, including cash rewards worth INR 13 lakhs, mentorship from industry experts, and networking opportunities through the Maruti Suzuki Innovation Alumni Connect. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit Maruti Suzuki’s manufacturing facilities and receive T-works credits for prototype development.
The program further offers pathways for deeper collaboration, such as integration with other Maruti Suzuki innovation initiatives, the possibility of a company-funded proof of concept, and potential go-to-market opportunities with Maruti Suzuki.
The program is open to tech-enabled startups operating from the prototype stage to pre-Series A. Applicants must have a minimum viable product, prototype, or proof of business with revenue generation, and must be Indian citizens.
