Deadline Date: September 22, 2026
The European Commission is seeking applications to support the preparation of proposals for Strategic Nature Projects aimed at implementing key biodiversity and nature policies at large territorial scale.
The scope focuses on implementing Priority Action Frameworks, National Restoration Plans, or other strategies aligned with EU nature and biodiversity legislation, operating at a large territorial scale, ensuring the involvement of all concerned stakeholders, and establishing coordination mechanisms for funding that supports complementary measures necessary for full implementation of the targeted frameworks or strategies.
The LIFE-2026-TA-PP-NAT-SNAP call provides financial support of €500,000.00 to enable applicants to develop strong and comprehensive proposals for Strategic Nature Projects. These projects are expected to contribute significantly to the execution of environmental and biodiversity strategies through coordinated and large-scale actions.
Eligible participants must be legal entities, either public or private, established in eligible countries including EU Member States, overseas countries and territories, and non-EU countries associated with the LIFE Programme. The project coordinator must be based in an eligible country. Applicants are required to register in the Participant Register and complete validation through the Central Validation Service by providing documents confirming legal status and origin.
Additional participation is possible through consortium roles such as associated partners, subcontractors, or third parties contributing in-kind support. International organisations are eligible, while natural persons are generally not eligible except for self-employed individuals without separate legal personality. Entities without legal personality may participate under specific conditions where their representatives can assume legal obligations and ensure protection of EU financial interests.
Entities from non-listed countries may be exceptionally eligible if their participation is deemed essential for project implementation. However, EU bodies, except for the European Commission Joint Research Centre, cannot participate in the consortium. Special restrictions apply to entities subject to EU restrictive or conditionality measures, making them ineligible for participation in any role.
