Deadline Date: September 22, 2026
The European Commission is inviting grant applications to support the preparation and submission of Climate Strategic Integrated Projects aimed at implementing climate strategies and action plans across eligible countries.
The focus areas include National Energy and Climate Plans and Long-Term Strategies, national and regional climate adaptation strategies, urban and community-based climate action plans, climate-neutral and climate-resilient transitions, greenhouse gas mitigation strategies, large-scale territorial implementation, stakeholder engagement, and coordination of multiple funding sources.
The objective of this funding opportunity is to support the development of Climate Strategic Integrated Projects under the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation sub-programme of the LIFE Programme. These projects are intended to facilitate the implementation of climate-related strategies and action plans developed by Member States or associated countries.
Climate Strategic Integrated Projects operate at regional, multiregional, national, or transnational levels, and may also include multi-city or smaller-scale approaches if they deliver substantial impact. The projects are designed to ensure the active involvement of stakeholders and promote coordination with additional funding sources from Union, national, or private sectors.
The targeted strategies include National Energy and Climate Plans and Long-Term Strategies, national and regional adaptation strategies, urban and community-level climate transition plans, and sector-specific greenhouse gas mitigation roadmaps contributing to climate neutrality.
The scope of this technical assistance focuses on preparing a complete Strategic Integrated Project proposal. All supported activities must directly contribute to the development and submission of the proposal and must be new and additional to any previously undertaken work.
Eligible activities may include recruiting and training personnel for proposal preparation, engaging external experts for concept development and proposal writing, collecting relevant data, developing financing plans, and identifying complementary actions and funding opportunities.
Additional activities may involve networking, consultation, coordination, and stakeholder engagement to ensure comprehensive participation in the future project. The preparation process also includes developing and submitting the concept note and full proposal.
The funding available for this technical assistance is up to €200,000 to support proposal preparation activities.
Eligible applicants must be legal entities, either public or private, established in EU Member States or other eligible countries associated with the LIFE Programme. The coordinating organisation must also be established in an eligible country.
This initiative aims to strengthen the development of high-quality climate projects that support the effective implementation of climate policies and strategies across Europe.
