Deadline Date: May 07, 2026
The United Nations Development Programme is seeking grant applications to support earthquake-affected micro-enterprises in Myanmar through financial assistance and capacity-building to restore and strengthen their business operations.
The focus areas of this intervention include recovery support for micro-enterprises through financial assistance to restore businesses and replace lost inventory, economic revitalization by enabling enterprises to resume production and generate employment, outreach and identification of eligible micro-enterprises, training in basic bookkeeping, safe food handling and hygiene, pricing and profit calculation, structured financial support disbursement linked to recovery milestones, and strengthening business recovery through proposal development, verification, and due diligence processes.
The initiative targets 100 micro-enterprises affected by the earthquake in Mandalay, Sagaing, and Naypyitaw regions. It aims to support businesses that have experienced significant disruption and have had limited access to previous assistance, ensuring that support reaches vulnerable and underserved enterprises.
The selected service provider will be responsible for identifying eligible businesses through coordinated outreach, conducting awareness sessions, and performing verification and vulnerability assessments. The process will ensure that selected enterprises meet the required criteria and demonstrate genuine need and commitment to recovery.
Financial assistance ranging from USD 300 to 500 will be provided to each eligible micro-enterprise, based on the strength of their business proposal, size of operations, and recovery plan. The financial support will be disbursed in phases, linked to recovery progress, with ongoing monitoring and support throughout the implementation period.
In addition to financial aid, beneficiaries will receive short training sessions focusing on essential business skills such as bookkeeping, hygiene practices, and pricing strategies. These sessions aim to strengthen business management and improve long-term sustainability.
The program prioritizes enterprises that are owned by women, youth, or persons with disabilities, as well as those that are locally owned and independently operated. Eligible businesses must have been in operation for at least two years prior to the earthquake and must be willing to contribute in-kind resources toward their recovery.
The implementation period for this assignment will run from May 2026 to December 2026, with a structured process for application support, proposal development, and beneficiary selection to ensure transparency and effectiveness.
