The Programme SIGMA 16th Call for Proposals under Sub-Objective 4 supports international cooperation in applied research through joint projects between Czech entities and foreign partners.
The programme focuses on increasing the quantity of outputs and results in areas relevant to the future development of participating countries, promoting the transfer of international knowledge, sharing best practices, and facilitating access to foreign markets through collaborative research initiatives.
This call is designed to support bilateral cooperation in applied research between Czech applicants funded by TA CR and foreign partners supported by corresponding foreign institutions. It aims to strengthen international collaboration in research and innovation while enhancing the practical application of research outcomes.
The programme is not limited to specific thematic areas, as topics are defined in cooperation with each foreign organisation based on their priority areas of applied research. Each project must include at least one Czech applicant and one foreign partner from the relevant location, with the requirement that the foreign partner also submits a complementary proposal to their respective funding organisation. Approval of both proposals is necessary for funding to be granted on the Czech side.
The total allocation for the programme is CZK 250 million, with an additional CZK 40 million specifically reserved for cooperation in the nuclear energy sector. The maximum funding available per project is CZK 20 million, and final allocations may vary depending on state budget availability and provider decisions.
Eligible applicants include research organisations and enterprises of all sizes, including small, medium-sized, and large companies. The main applicant must be an enterprise capable of independently implementing the project or collaborating with other enterprises or research organisations. Various legal entities such as associations, foundations, non-profit organisations, self-employed individuals, state bodies, and public institutions may also participate under enterprise applicant categories.
