Deadline Date: September 22, 2026
The European Commission is currently accepting applications to support the development of innovative bio-based thermoset materials designed for high performance and circularity in line with key European sustainability strategies.
The focus of this initiative includes contributing to the Circular Economy Action Plan, the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability, the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, the Chemical Industry Action Plan, and the Clean Industrial Deal, while ensuring wider availability of bio-based thermoset materials that meet high technical performance requirements and improving circularity across production, use, and end-of-life stages compared to market benchmarks.
Proposals must include the application of the Safe and Sustainable by Design framework developed by the European Commission to assess the targeted materials and products. They should also ensure complementarities with previous and ongoing research and innovation projects funded under relevant European programmes.
The total budget allocated to this topic is €14 million under a broader programme budget of €170,760,699. Participation is open to any legal entity regardless of location, including entities from non-associated third countries and international organisations, provided they meet the conditions set under Horizon Europe regulations.
Beneficiaries and affiliated entities must register in the Participant Register to obtain a Participant Identification Code before grant agreement signing. Affiliated entities, associated partners, and entities without legal personality may also participate under specific conditions, while EU bodies and the Joint Research Centre may be involved in accordance with the call provisions.
