The Women in Tech Accelerator Kenya is an initiative funded by the Standard Chartered Foundation and implemented by Village Capital in collaboration with the @iBizAfrica Incubation Centre at Strathmore University. It is designed to empower women entrepreneurs with the tools, networks, and mentorship required to strengthen their businesses and achieve sustainable growth within Kenya’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The programme is targeted at women-led startups with a strong focus on innovation and inclusivity. The principal founder must be a woman between 18 and 35 years of age, and must be a Kenyan national or permanent resident. Businesses are expected to be tech-based or tech-enabled and legally registered as for-profit startups with between 1 and 10 employees.
Eligible applicants must demonstrate that their business is revenue-generating, with an annual revenue between KES 500,000 and 1,000,000. In addition, the startup must have a Tax Compliance Certificate and at least one woman founder and one full-time founder based in Nairobi, Kenya.
The programme also emphasizes inclusive business models that address social, economic, or environmental challenges aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals across any sector. Persons with Disabilities are also encouraged to apply, ensuring broader participation in the innovation ecosystem.
Through a 12-week immersive learning experience, participants gain access to leading coaching experts and structured mentorship, while also benefiting from opportunities to connect with potential business partners and investors. The accelerator further supports founders in building resilient and scalable startups that contribute to job creation and innovation in Kenya.
