The Innovate UK is offering to support ambitious businesses working on low carbon concrete innovations to help accelerate their adoption and scale within the construction industry.
The programme focuses on recruiting ambitious businesses with solutions to decarbonise concrete that have already started building traction in the construction industry, supporting organisations active in the sustainable concrete supply chain, requiring a letter of support from a commercial entity operating in the concrete supply chain that demonstrates scalability of the idea, and the submission of a video response to the application pitch question, while also aiming to fund and support businesses through a Growth Cohort model that works collectively with industry to remove barriers to adoption and help innovative solutions secure investment and scale to market.
The Growth Cohort ultimately aims to support businesses in strengthening their commercial readiness, expanding industry collaboration, and advancing innovative low carbon concrete solutions toward market-scale impact.
The initiative is designed to bring together selected businesses working on low carbon concrete innovations and support them through structured collaboration with industry stakeholders. The purpose of this support is to help accelerate the transition of promising solutions from early traction to wider commercial adoption within the construction sector.
Applicants are expected to demonstrate that their business is already active within the sustainable concrete supply chain and that their solution has begun to gain interest or traction in the construction industry. This ensures that participating organisations are positioned at a stage where targeted support can effectively help them scale.
As part of the application process, businesses must also provide evidence of commercial validation through a letter of support from an entity currently operating within the concrete supply chain. This letter should confirm that the proposed solution is considered scalable within the industry context.
Successful projects under this programme are awarded grant funding of £50,000 for an initial delivery period of six months. The project work must be carried out in the United Kingdom and is expected to contribute to the broader goal of accelerating decarbonisation in the concrete sector.
All projects must start on the first day of the month, regardless of whether it is a working day, and cannot begin until the Grant Offer Letter has been formally approved. Any delays during the setup stage may result in adjustments to the project start date.
Applicants must also ensure compliance with funding rules, including staying within the Minimal Financial Assistance limit. A complete declaration must be submitted as part of the application, and exceeding this limit will result in ineligibility.
