Deadline Date: April 26, 2026
The Canadian AI in MedTech and Digital Health R&D Partnering Delegation to Taiwan aims to foster international collaboration by connecting Canadian SMEs with Taiwanese partners for research, development, and future commercialization opportunities.
The programme focuses on building partnerships between Canadian SMEs and Taiwanese SMEs, multinational enterprises, research institutions, and academia, while advancing technologies such as smart medical devices, AI- and data-driven healthcare, digital health and health IT, telehealth and telemedicine, smart home healthcare devices, hospital smart systems, surgical robots and robotic assistance systems, the internet of medical things (IoMT), and healthcare cybersecurity, alongside promoting clinical validation, technology value-adding, venture capital engagement, contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) services, incubation and acceleration, and access to international market channels.
This delegation provides a platform for Canadian companies to engage with Taiwan’s dynamic and rapidly growing medtech ecosystem. It encourages participants to establish joint R&D collaborations that can lead to the commercialization of innovative healthcare solutions. Canadian SMEs are expected to be prepared for active collaboration, including validating their technologies in the Taiwanese market, adapting their solutions to local market needs, and co-developing new products or services in partnership with Taiwanese organizations.
The initiative highlights Taiwan’s strong position in the medtech and digital health sectors, offering a fertile environment for innovation and growth. With a medical device sector valued at CAD 6.4 billion in 2024, a digital healthcare market worth CAD 2.5 billion growing at an annual rate of 10 percent, and a health and wellness sector valued at CAD 12.5 billion, Taiwan presents significant opportunities for international collaboration and expansion.
Through this delegation, Canadian SMEs can gain access to strategic partnerships, enhance their technological capabilities, and expand their presence in global markets while contributing to the advancement of healthcare innovation.
