Vinnova is seeking applications to support innovative projects that leverage AI and edge learning technologies to strengthen the Swedish space sector.
The call focuses on developing the Swedish space sector by promoting disruptive and innovative projects that use AI and edge learning technologies, with an emphasis on high socio-economic impact, strong research backing, and clear market potential, while aligning with ESA Phi-Lab Sweden’s strategic priorities, and is structured around two main tracks: software track focusing on intelligent satellites and cognitive autonomy, and hardware track focusing on next-generation space computing architectures and onboard data pipelines.
Selected projects are expected to contribute significantly to advancing the Swedish space ecosystem by utilizing cutting-edge AI and edge learning solutions. Each project can apply for funding ranging from 2.5 to 4 million SEK, with a maximum duration of 24 months. The total preliminary budget for this call is 8 million SEK, supporting a focused portfolio of high-impact projects.
This funding opportunity is open to companies, academic institutions, research institutes, and public sector organizations based in Sweden, with the possibility of collaboration with entities from other ESA Member States. The initiative is carried out within ESA Phi-Lab Sweden, which is part of ESA Phi-LabNET, a strategic program aimed at accelerating the commercialization of space technology innovations.
