The SME Enhance Grant Scheme provides non-repayable financial support to Start-ups and SMEs to help them invest in expansion, diversification, innovation, and initial business operations.
This initiative focuses on promoting entrepreneurship, facilitating the economic exploitation of new ideas, fostering the creation of new firms, reaping the benefits of digitisation for citizens, companies, research organisations and public authorities, and enhancing sustainable growth and competitiveness of SMEs while supporting job creation through productive investments.
Under the administration of the Measures and Support Division within the Ministry responsible for Union Funds, this scheme is financed through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and forms part of the 2021-2027 SFC2021 Programme. The programme aims to create a smarter, well-connected, resilient economy, a greener environment, and an integrated society. Eligible enterprises can receive grants ranging from €10,000 up to €128,400, with an additional 7% flat rate to cover indirect costs associated with their investment.
Eligible beneficiaries include Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises engaged in economic activity, regardless of legal form, and Start-ups registered under the Second Schedule of the Civil Code (CAP 16 of the Laws of Malta). The scheme supports productive investments in tangible and intangible assets aimed at enhancing operations, expanding business activities, or initiating new ventures.
SME Enhance remains open for applications until 31 December 2026, subject to the availability of funds, providing enterprises with a valuable opportunity to strengthen their competitiveness, adopt innovative practices, and fully exploit the advantages of digital transformation.
