The BlueActionAA Community-Led Pilot Action Call is inviting applications to support regional and local communities in taking a leading to protect and restore marine and freshwater ecosystems across the Atlantic and Arctic regions.
Focus areas, include community-led actions that engage local and regional communities in collective collaboration for innovation and uptake, protecting and restoring marine and freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity in line with the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030, preventing and eliminating pollution of oceans, seas, and inland waters according to the EU Action Plan Towards Zero Pollution for Air, Water, and Soil, and making the sustainable blue economy carbon-neutral and circular as outlined in the European Climate Law and Sustainable Blue Economy Strategy.
BAAC-01 aims to pilot or implement innovative solutions that address one or more interconnected objectives of the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030.” The project provides financial support through cascading grants to organisations and consortia, along with technical assistance and capacity-building resources, to ensure effective and sustainable ecosystem restoration actions.
At least five grants will be awarded, ranging from EUR 200,000 to EUR 2 million each, with a maximum funding of EUR 500,000 per single organization, including small consortia. Eligible costs include personnel, purchases, travel, and subcontracting, with project durations expected between 6 and 24 months.
Eligible entities include regional and local public authorities, NGOs, foundations, professional associations, civil society and citizen associations engaged in local development and nature conservation, SMEs and large enterprises, cultural and educational organizations, as well as research organisations, academia, and relevant EU research infrastructure.
Eligible countries include the EU Member States—Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden—including their outermost regions, Overseas Countries and Territories linked to the Member States, and Horizon Europe associated countries, with lead applicants particularly encouraged from France, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Iceland, Greenland, Faroe Islands, the UK, and Canada.
