The Macquarie Community Resilience Prize is inviting applications to support climate-resilient communities and workforce development through the delivery of technology-enabled solutions in Brazil, Australia, and the Pacific Islands.
The prize focuses on improving infrastructure resilience for electrical, water, and other technical systems, reducing community risks from hazards such as wildfires, flooding, drought, and extreme heat, strengthening climate-adapted agriculture and food systems that protect and restore natural ecosystems, training and upskilling workers in trades that enable infrastructure resilience and community adaptation, providing tools and opportunities for current workers to adopt climate resilience work within their portfolios, and enabling new funding and employment models to support long-term community resilience and transition work.
Prize winners will gain access to a total prize pool of up to US$1,000,000, with individual awards ranging from US$50,000 to US$250,000. In addition, winners will participate in a dedicated support program, including a tailored needs assessment call, workshops, executive coaching, access to additional resources, and mentorship matchmaking with Macquarie Group employees, ensuring both practical guidance and long-term impact.
Solutions can be for-profit, non-profit, or hybrid models. Government entities are not eligible to apply independently, but eligible organizations—including non-profits, social enterprises, academic institutions, and private sector organizations—may apply in partnership with government entities, provided the government is not the lead applicant and the Team Lead is affiliated with the eligible non-government organization. Solutions must be headquartered or deployed in Brazil, Australia, and/or the Pacific Islands, include at least one full-time equivalent team member, be enabled by technology, and be at least at the pilot stage. Solutions in the concept or prototype phases are not eligible, and all applications must be submitted in English.
