Deadline Date: December 27, 2025
The Insurance Innovation Challenge by UNDP Pakistan invites applications to support scalable and impactful inclusive insurance models through innovation, collaboration and sustainability for vulnerable and underserved communities.
The primary objectives of the Inclusive Insurance Innovation Challenge Pakistan 2025 are Scale Existing Solutions, Enhance Financial Resilience, Promote Sustainable Business Models, Foster Strategic Collaboration, and Improve Awareness and Uptake. The thematic areas should include one or more of Climate/Disaster Risk Insurance, Digital Innovation, Nature and Biodiversity, SME Resilience, Health Insurance, Mandatory Insurance, and Social Insurance. The proposed project must have a potential for financial, social and environmental sustainability and scale-up.
All projects must be inclusive in nature, benefit the target beneficiaries, and contribute to the achievement of SDGs. The applicant is expected to propose concepts for innovative inclusive insurance models that target underserved segments and or geographies. The models and approaches should include information about the insurance product and the risks that it covers, the distribution channels to reach the target markets, communications and marketing, and integration of front and backend technology solutions that improve and enhance insurance products to be scaled up. Successful applicants must have an insurance partner and will be provided with support to further develop and test these ideas through a combination of resources and technical assistance. The model should pay particular attention to gender equality.
The challenge aims to accelerate the deployment of inclusive insurance solutions that address the needs of low-income communities, informal workers, micro and small businesses and other underserved populations in Pakistan. Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate how their proposed solution has demonstrated early traction and can scale effectively to maximize impact across the country. Estimated prize: up to US$40,000 USD for one successful applicant will be awarded to support the development and testing of the proposed solution.
Applicants are also expected to demonstrate financial, social and environmental sustainability in their models, showing clear potential for long-term adoption beyond the support period. Each solution must clearly articulate its target beneficiaries and ensure the maximum social benefit rather than limiting value to the implementing organization.
