Calling all Startups and Entrepreneurial Support Organisations (ESOs) such as accelerators, incubators, business development service providers working in the digital innovation ecosystem in Africa, to apply for world-class tailored support to improve your gender diversity, inclusion and/or support women-led businesses.

What is in it for you?

  • Digital Innovation Startups
    • Opportunity to receive world-class, tailored, Gender Smart Advisory Services over a 3-month period
      • The dedicated advisory support covers
        • In-person workshop on DEI and gender-transformative approaches to business, including support to participants to develop DEI Action Plans
        • Office hours to answer questions and assess the priority areas for DEI interventions
        • Implementation support through undertaking in-depth gender diagnostics of your company’s operations, developing and refining DEI Action Plans; including monitoring indicators to track progress, and supporting implementation of high priority actions

      • The report covers
        • Your 2X Challenge Compliance status
        • An overview of your gender inclusion score across different business areas, ranging from product design and marketing all the way to customer service (in other words: More than just HR!)
        • Tailored recommendations for the next steps, based on your current activities, as well as your top 3 strategic business priorities
        • Ability to benchmark yourself against your peers.
    • 1:1 Expert Consultations and Coaching
      • This is an opportunity for you to
        • Discuss your gender self-assessment survey results with Value for Women and gain a deeper understanding of the areas of opportunity for gender inclusion
    • Individual Gender Roadmap
    • Opportunity to be featured in a case study and gain visibility in front of investors and sector stakeholders.
    • Note: Only 3 startups will be selected for exclusive, personalised advisory from Value for Women.
  • Innovation Enablers, Accelerator and Incubators
    • Opportunity to get selected for an immersive, in-person Gender Smart Bootcamp in Nairobi, Kenya in Nov 2023, with travel subsidy for select participants.
    • Personalised Gender Self-Assessment Report
      • The report covers
        • Your 2X Challenge Compliance status
        • An overview of your gender inclusion score across different business areas, ranging from product design and marketing all the way to customer service (in other words: More than just HR!)
        • Tailored recommendations for the next steps, based on your current activities, as well as your top 3 strategic business priorities
        • Ability to benchmark yourself against your peers.
    • Gender Roadmap for each participating organization
    • 1:1 Peer Learning and Expert Consultations.
      • This offers you an opportunity to
        • Share and discuss approaches for gender inclusion with your peers as well as discuss your gender self-assessment survey results with Value for Women and gain a deeper understanding of the areas of opportunity for gender inclusion
    • Opportunity to receive tailored Gender Smart Advisory Services over a 3-month period for 3 organisations.
      • The dedicated advisory support covers
        • In-person workshop on DEI and gender-transformative approaches to business, including support to participants to develop DEI Action Plans
        • Office hours to answer questions and assess the priority areas for DEI interventions
        • Implementation support through undertaking in-depth gender diagnostics of your company’s operations, developing and refining DEI Action Plans; including monitoring indicators to track progress, and supporting implementation of high priority actions

Who is eligible to apply?

  • The programme contains two tracks – one for Digital Innovation Startups and a second one for Digital Ecosystem Support Organisations as follows.
    • Track 1: Digital Innovation Startups
      • Are you a startup in the digital innovation space keen on applying a gender lens in your operations? Start-ups that are eligible for this programme include platform businesses, e-commerce ventures, and other digital innovators, working in Africa. If you fit the criterion above, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
    • Track 2: Ecosystem Enablers
      • Do you represent an enterprise support organisation (ESO) eager to enhance its understanding of the significance of a gender lens for ESOs? ESOs could include accelerators, fund managers, and organisations that support the growth of digital innovation, etc.
      • Are you seeking practical insights on how ESOs can integrate a gender perspective into their programmes and organisational framework? If so, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

    • Want to be a leader in advancing gender inclusion in the digital innovation sector
    • Are keen on contributing to the knowledge base on gender inclusion in the digital innovation sector
    • Are available between Oct 2023 to Mar 2024 to participate in the project.
