The Australian Governmnet is pleased to announce the Visitor Experience Enhancement Program NT that provides NT tourism businesses with funding to undertake projects that will improve visitor experiences.
This program aims to assist the tourism industry to undertake projects that will improve the on-ground visitor experience in the Northern Territory (NT).
To be successful, projects need to:
- be strategic in nature by delivering benefits to an individual business, multiple businesses or to a region.
- have a significant NT tourism focus.
- be able to demonstrate through existing customer feedback the need for the visitor experience enhancement.
- demonstrate how the proposal will enhance the visitor experience, increase favourable reviews and increase visitor numbers.
Funding Information
- One-off funding of up to $100,000.
Eligible Projects
- infrastructure upgrades to address shortcomings in the current visitor experience.
- implementation of new equipment or technology to enhance a tourism retail experience.
- development of new visitor experiences that diversify the tourism offering in the region based on customer feedback.
- upgrades to infrastructure or product that improves safety for customers or staff.
- improved disability access i.e. access ramps, accessible bathrooms, audio tours, vehicle modifications.
- new tourism offerings and/or products that contribute to the conservation of the Territory’s natural and cultural values through enhanced sustainability.
Ineligible Activities
- Applications will not be accepted for:
- the purchase or lease of mobile/ portable assets including, but not limited to, computers (e.g. desktops or laptops), televisions, power tools, motor vehicles (e.g. cars, buses or motorcycles) and boats.
- activities/works/product orders that have commenced before the grant has been approved.
- upgrading or developing facilities predominantly for local community use or where there is no clearly defined visitor benefit.
- marketing, advertising and product promotion activities.
- regular repairs and maintenance.
- administrative or running costs that are normally the responsibility of a business (e.g. rent, insurances, auditing and finance costs etc.), state or territory administration or local council.
- wages or salaries for an applicant’s employees.
- training costs for implementation of new technology.
- purchase or lease of real estate of any type.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible, businesses must:
- be a Territory tourism business enterprise with a significant NT tourism focus.
- have an online booking system, or have applied for one at the time of application.
- be Australian registered.
- have a current Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) listing or have applied for one at time of application.
- currently operate in the NT.
- be a member of a peak industry body.
- employ NT residents.
