If you have a project or idea that can benefit the Australian honey bee and pollination industry you are invited to apply for the AgriFutures Honey Bee & Pollination Program 2023/24 Industry Development Grants.
The AgriFutures Honey Bee & Pollination Program 2023/24 Industry Development Grants are now open and seek to expand industry understanding, knowledge, and skills to drive the Australian honey bee and pollination industry into the future. In particular the 2023 Industry Development Grants are looking to support Early Career Researchers (ECR) on their research journey.
The AgriFutures Honey Bee & Pollination Program aims to support research, development and extension (RD&E) that reflect and respond to industry needs and concerns. It aims to ensure a productive, sustainable and profitable beekeeping industry and secure the pollination of Australia’s horticultural and agricultural crops. It focuses on increasing productivity and profitability of beekeepers, reducing the incidence and impact of pests and diseases, and increasing the understanding of the role of flora in honey bee management.
Funding Information
- AgriFutures Australia is seeking applications to support industry development, personal development within the industry, seed funding to explore a research problem and travel grants.
- These grants (up to $7,000) are available to any entity that is involved in the Australian honey bee and pollination industry. Applications for the Industry Development Grants may focus on (but are not limited to):
- Travel grants
- Research funding, including PhD top-ups
- Personal development that will benefit industry for example attending conferences, consortiums and educational forums.
- This year the focus is the development of Early Career Researchers – ECRs are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Note: If applying as an individual you must have a current ABN.
- This grant cannot be used to purchase equipment that would be used in day to day private business activities.
Application Requirements
- Applicants must:
- Hold an ABN
- Be a current Australian resident
- Applicants’ responses must:
- Outline the project idea and project plan – including project objectives, intended outcomes, and how these will be achieved. Addressing SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timebound) milestones aligned to the deliverables of the project.
- Provide a detailed explanation of how the outcomes of the Grant will benefit the honey bee and pollination industry.
- Demonstrate the capability and experience of the applicant.
- Outline the project timeline – it is expected that this project should take no longer than 12 months to complete.
- If the Industry Development Grant is part of a larger project, with additional funding, outline what the Industry Development Grant will contribute to and how will the Industry Development Grant directly benefit the industry.
- Include a detailed budget – including quotes, if applicable.
