The Project Funding for Galleries supports German galleries presenting exhibitions by artists from France or artists based in France, with a focus on strengthening artistic partnerships.
Focus areas include supporting exhibitions featuring contemporary visual artists, promoting the French art scene in Germany, strengthening collaborations between galleries and artists, and supporting monographic exhibitions by emerging artists.
The Office for Visual Arts provides funding support to German galleries for their first and second exhibitions featuring eligible artists. The program aims to strengthen partnerships with commercial entities contributing to the local art market.
Eligible galleries must have a legal form such as a company or organization, be based in Germany, be managed on a full-time basis, work with contemporary visual artists’ works, and regularly organize exhibition projects in their spaces and/or at fairs.
The approved grants range from €1,000 to €2,000 after review of applications. The maximum funding share is limited to 50% of the total project budget.
Production and reception costs cannot be covered through the Bureau’s support. Exhibitions by artists already represented in the gallery’s regular program are not eligible for funding.
