The Cleantech Innovation Programme is now accepting applications to support South African enterprises advancing innovative solutions for climate and sustainability challenges.
The focus areas, include cleantech innovation, entrepreneurship development, climate action, sustainable development, technology commercialization, innovation ecosystem strengthening, policy and institutional framework development, monitoring and evaluation, water efficiency, energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste beneficiation, green buildings, green transportation, agritech, advanced materials and chemicals, environmental protection, and the identification, fostering, and development of cleantech businesses and innovations.
The Technology Innovation Agency was established to promote the development and exploitation of discoveries, inventions, and innovations that improve the quality of life and contribute to economic growth in South Africa. The agency supports technological innovation by helping bridge the gap between research and commercialization.
Applications are invited from Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises with innovative clean technology solutions through the Global Cleantech Innovation Programme South Africa. The programme provides participants with mentoring, training, investor access, opportunities to showcase innovations to the market, and the chance to compete for a cash prize and an international competition opportunity.
The initiative forms part of the second phase of the Global Cleantech Innovation Programme, which promotes innovation as a key mechanism for climate change mitigation and adaptation. The programme also supports technology transfer, investment mobilization, and climate partnerships that contribute to low-emission and climate-resilient development.
Eligible applicants must present new and innovative cleantech technologies or unique applications of existing technologies. Proposed solutions should have protectable intellectual property, demonstrate a feasible concept and product with commercialization potential, and be at the proof-of-concept to pre-commercialization stage. Applicants must be registered South African entities.
