The Technology Innovation Agency is inviting applications from public and private organisations to establish a Wastewater Biorefinery Innovation Cluster aimed at addressing critical challenges and unlocking opportunities within the wastewater and biorefinery sectors.
The initiative seeks to consolidate expertise, infrastructure, and market demand into a collaborative, sustainable, and commercially viable innovation cluster that supports the advancement of wastewater and biorefinery technologies and solutions.
The programme will be supported through a conditional grant funding instrument. A total of R4,000,000 per annum will be made available for a funding period of 36 months, with the opportunity for follow-on funding based on performance and outcomes.
Applications are open to legally recognised South African organisations, including industry entities, science councils, and higher education institutions. The selected host institution will be responsible for providing mechanisms that bring together key stakeholders, capabilities, and resources to strengthen innovation and commercialisation within the sector.
