Deadline Date: May 07, 2026
The Northern Territory Government has announced its NT Experience Fund to support NT tourism and hospitality businesses to help them deliver new products and experiences.
The program focuses on supporting initiatives related to adventure tourism, business event delegate experiences, cruise tourism, cultural tourism, dark skies experiences, domestic education tourism, fishing, food and drink, major event attendee experiences, military tourism, and night-time offerings.
The funding is delivered through three streams designed to support varying scales of project development. Stream A provides up to $150,000 for single-year new product development projects, requiring a minimum co-contribution of 35%. Stream B offers up to $300,000 for more complex or large-scale projects over two years, also requiring a 35% co-contribution. Stream C supports military tourism enhancements with grants of up to $40,000 and does not require any co-contribution.
Eligible activities include the development of new tourism products such as purpose-built infrastructure, immersive or virtual experiences, self-guided tours, and portable assets directly linked to the visitor experience. Military tourism enhancements may include infrastructure upgrades, new interpretive experiences, or technology integration to improve on-ground engagement. All supported projects must result in a standalone, bookable, and trade-ready tourism product or experience with an active listing.
Ineligible activities include any work commenced before approval, marketing or promotional expenses, routine operational costs, wages, real estate or vehicle purchases, and projects that do not create a complete visitor experience.
They must meet specific eligibility criteria to apply for this funding. Applicants are required to have a registered Australian Business Number (ABN), operate as a Territory enterprise, and hold membership in a peak industry body related to tourism in the Northern Territory. They must demonstrate a clear vision for a new and innovative product or experience, align their project with the Visitor Economy Strategy 2032, and present a structured project plan with defined timelines and resource commitments.
For multi-year funding, they must also submit a detailed business plan outlining financial viability, competitive positioning, and project complexity. For military tourism projects, they must enhance publicly accessible visitor experiences connected to the region’s military story and provide an itemised budget with supplier quotes.
