The Travel grants is inviting applications to support game developers in Aotearoa New Zealand to build international partnerships and achieve commercialisation outcomes through industry engagement.
The focus is on promoting and strengthening the game development ecosystem, supporting participation in international industry events, enabling commercialisation opportunities, and encouraging the development of digital interactive game projects with commercial outcomes, including entertainment and serious-purpose games such as those for health and education.
The Travel Grants are designed to assist developers who are seeking to connect with commercialisation partners, expand their networks, and explore international publishing opportunities. With the return of in-person industry events, the programme recognises the value of face-to-face engagement in building meaningful partnerships and advancing projects.
Funding is available to support travel costs, with grants offering up to $8,000 per successful applicant. Applicants are required to contribute at least 20 percent of the total travel cost, ensuring shared investment in the opportunity. Expressions of interest are open for a limited period, followed by a full application stage for selected candidates.
The programme is open to individuals, groups, and business entities based in Aotearoa New Zealand, provided they meet eligibility requirements and are engaged in developing digital interactive games with commercial intent. This includes both entertainment-focused projects and those designed for serious applications such as health and education.
Through this initiative, the programme aims to strengthen the national game development ecosystem by enabling developers to access global markets, build strategic relationships, and enhance the commercial potential of their projects.
