The Victorian Government has launched an $8 million grant program to support small and medium freight businesses in transitioning to zero-emission vehicles and reducing long-term fuel costs.
The program focuses on supporting EV charging infrastructure at freight depots, enabling the adoption of zero and low-emission freight vehicles, facilitating vehicle retrofits and fit-outs, and encouraging the use of alternative fuels and new technologies.
This initiative provides funding of up to $300,000 for eligible Victorian freight operators, helping them make the shift toward cleaner and more sustainable transport solutions. By targeting both infrastructure and vehicle upgrades, the program aims to address key barriers that businesses face when adopting zero-emission technologies.
The funding can be used to install EV charging systems at depots, ensuring that businesses have the necessary infrastructure to support electric fleets. It also supports the purchase or upgrade of freight vehicles that produce lower emissions, as well as retrofitting existing vehicles to improve their environmental performance. Additionally, the program encourages innovation through the adoption of alternative fuels and emerging technologies that contribute to decarbonisation.
Through this grant, the Victorian Government is enabling freight operators to reduce operational costs over time while contributing to environmental sustainability. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to lower emissions in the transport sector and promote cleaner energy use across the industry.
