The METS Innovation Program supports Western Australian companies in transforming research knowledge into practical mining solutions.
The program is designed to address issues in one or more of the Focus Areas outlined in item 1.3 by supporting the development of innovative products and services for the mining sector.
The initiative recognises the important role played by the Mining Equipment, Technology and Services sector in advancing the mining innovation lifecycle. It aims to help businesses translate research outcomes into real-world applications that can benefit Western Australia’s mining industry.
The program includes both financial support and project facilitation. It provides matched funding of up to $250,000 per approved project, enabling companies to progress their innovations. In addition to funding, participants receive assistance in connecting with collaborators and sponsors, as well as guidance in navigating the broader innovation ecosystem and identifying other available support opportunities.
To be eligible, businesses must demonstrate that they provide mining equipment, technology, or services to the mining sector. They must have their main business location in Western Australia and meet specific structural requirements, including holding an Australian Business Number, being registered for Goods and Services Tax, and operating as an incorporated company or trust. Additionally, eligible businesses must have an annual turnover of less than $50 million.
