Deadline Date: May 29, 2026
The Strategic Opportunities Program provides targeted funding to support innovative, high-impact projects that strengthen the screen and digital games industry in New South Wales.
The program focuses on building capacity within the NSW screen and digital games industries, supporting the growth and capability of practitioners, organisations and businesses, and aligning with the NSW Screen & Digital Games Strategy (2025–2027) priorities which include creating stories, building sustainable growth, improving capacity and capability, and developing audiences to increase demand, while also increasing industry participation among key priority groups such as Regional NSW, Western Sydney, First Nations people, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, people living with disability, and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
The Strategic Opportunities Program is designed to support large-scale, sector development projects that deliver significant benefits to the NSW screen and digital games ecosystem. It particularly encourages projects with strong artistic and strategic merit that may not be able to secure funding through other avenues. By focusing on innovation and long-term industry impact, the program aims to strengthen the overall capacity and sustainability of the sector.
Funding under this initiative is provided on a one-off, single-year basis, meaning projects that have previously received support through this program are not eligible for repeat funding. Grants range from $5,000 to $50,000, offering flexibility for organisations to undertake meaningful and impactful initiatives.
The program is open to Australian organisations operating within the screen and digital games sector, including companies, not-for-profit incorporated bodies, co-operatives, trusts, local government authorities, and collaborative consortia. Applicants must hold an Australian Business Number (ABN), be legally constituted, and meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Screen NSW Terms of Trade. Additionally, all applicants are required to consult with Screen NSW staff before submitting their application.
However, the program does not accept applications from individuals, sole traders, partnerships, unincorporated organisations, government departments and agencies, or educational institutions such as schools, universities, and TAFE colleges. Organisations that have previously received NSW Government funding but have not fulfilled their obligations or acquitted prior funding are also ineligible.
