The Labor Day Awards 2026 is set to honor outstanding contributions of workers and employers to national development. The event aims to recognize and appreciate the contributions of workers to national development, strengthen the spirit of cooperation and consensus through “tripartism” between the government, employers, and employees in national development efforts, and acknowledge employers who contribute to the development of an industrial society that is productive, informed, disciplined, caring, and responsive to changing work environments.
The celebration will take place on 1 May 2026 at Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil, offering a total cash prize of RM140,000 and certificates to award winners across multiple categories. The awards recognize achievements in public service, private sector contributions, labor unions, and media, ensuring that excellence in all aspects of the workforce is celebrated.
For civil servants, the National Civil Service Servant Figure Awards are divided into Top Management, Management and Professional, and Implementation Groups. Eligible nominees are those who demonstrate exceptional performance and make significant contributions to their organization and the Public Service, with nominations coordinated through the Human Resources Manager of the relevant ministry, state secretariat, or statutory body. Each award comes with a cash prize of RM10,000 and a certificate.
For employees outside the civil service, the National Employee Figure Awards cover Executive, Non-Executive, and Persons with Disabilities (OKU) categories. Nominations for these awards are made by the respective employers or companies, recognizing individual excellence and impact in the workplace.
Employers are acknowledged through the National Best Employer Awards for Large Companies/GLCs and SMEs. SMEs must meet specific criteria regarding employee numbers and annual sales value depending on the sector. These awards highlight organizations that foster productive and harmonious work environments.
Trade unions are also recognized through the National Best Labor Union Awards for the public sector, private sector, and statutory bodies. Eligible unions must maintain harmonious employer-employee relations and prioritize employee welfare, with candidates assessed by the Department of Trade Union Affairs (JHEKS).
The media sector is celebrated through the Best Media Awards for both individuals and agencies, acknowledging their role in reporting labor-related achievements and developments. Additionally, the Labor Day Best Contingent Award 2026 will be selected during the celebration from invited participants.
All winners from 2022 to 2025 in the same category are ineligible to participate, but participants may enter more than one category. Winners will also be recognized on the websites of the Public Service Department, agencies under the Ministry of Human Resources, MEF, CUEPACS, and MTUC.
