The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has launched a public call for participation in the specialist training program for advisors and consultants for the seal of gender equality in the private sector.
The initiative “Improving a favorable working environment for women in Bosnia and Herzegovina through the Seal for Gender Equality in Private Enterprises (FEEWW)” aims to support Bosnia and Herzegovina in reducing the gender gap, promoting equality in the workplace and contributing to the economic empowering women. The initiative is implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP BiH) in partnership with the Agency for Gender Equality of Bosnia and Herzegovina/Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARS BiH/MLJPI BiH).
This initiative plans to involve the public sector, civil society and the private sector in the pilot phase of introduction of the international Seal for Gender Equality (GES) as a tool that would improve the setting and achievement of standards that promote gender equality and women’s empowerment. GES is a voluntary program based on the development of an integrated Gender Equality Management System (GEMS). By including a gender perspective in the entire management system, through this standard companies implement comprehensive measures to change their organizational structure and culture, creating fairer and more dignified conditions for all employees.
Purpose of this Public Call and Expected Results
- This public call is open to all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who meet the set criteria and who have shown interest in participating in the training program provided for in this public call.
- The goal of the training program is to establish a national group of advisors who can provide advisory services to private companies and support them in the process of implementing the “Gender Equality Seal”.
- The training will focus on key aspects of the “Gender Equality Stamp”, providing participants with and participants a comprehensive understanding of the key role of gender equality in the private sector and modern business. This training will cover key principles and practices that contribute to gender equality, offering tools and insights for private companies to create more inclusive and equitable work environments.
- It is expected that all participants of the training will gain a relevant understanding of the “Seal for Gender Equality in the Private Sector”, a widely recognized standard that marks the company’s commitment to gender equality and the path towards its realization. This training will equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to implement strategies aimed at reducing gender inequality, improving diversity and developing an atmosphere of equality. As a result, they will be adequately capacitated to support private companies on their way to achieving the “Gender Equality Seal”.
- The training program will be conducted based on the internationally recognized standard and methodology for the “Seal for Gender Equality in the Private Sector”.
Why participate in the training program?
- After successfully completing the training and passing the final exam, all participants will receive a formal certificate of completion of the training and will be included in the national and global register of UNDP certified consultants for the Gender Equality Seal (GES).
- Since the project envisages the provision of technical assistance to 5 selected BiH. Company, selected and certified participants will have the opportunity to cooperate with these companies. This cooperation will enable them to gain valuable practical experience by providing technical and professional support to companies in the implementation of the Seal for Gender Equality standards.
Timeframe
- The expected duration of the training program is from November 2023 to February 2024, and it will be conducted by selected experts from the UNDP Regional Office in Panama in an online format.
- If it is estimated that it is necessary, and if it turns out to be necessary, it is possible for the training program to include on-site training, lasting several days in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Application Criteria
As previously stated, in order to be considered for this training program, applicants must be citizens or legal residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina and meet the mandatory criteria listed below:
- Education: At least a university degree (VSS – VII degree of vocational education or higher education of the first cycle) in economics, technical sciences, political sciences, social sciences, gender studies or any other related discipline.
- Professional experience: At least 4 years of relevant professional experience in one or more areas: socio-economic development, experience combining the field of gender equality and economic development, feminist economics, introduction of social responsibility standards, gender equality and gender mainstreaming, gender responsible business consulting and/or related areas. Also, professional experience gained through work and/or consulting engagement in the private and public sector as well as in work with international organizations is also acceptable.
- Language requirements: Adequate knowledge of spoken and written English.
