Deadline: August 24, 2026
The grant focuses on tackling visible signs of urban decay in Brackley, enhancing visual appeal, preserving historical integrity, improving economic vitality, supporting growth of local businesses, boosting footfall, strengthening the local economy, and creating a more vibrant and attractive high street.
The grant is offered in partnership with Brackley Town Council and is funded by West Northamptonshire Council through the Section 106 Brackley Town Fund. It aims to improve the town centre and support businesses operating within it.
Funding can be used for structural works to a property and equipment needed for business operations. Applicants must explain how each item of work or equipment will help their organisation trade more efficiently and deliver services. Equipment may be new, second-hand, or refurbished.
Planning permission or listed building consent must be in place before applying if required. Pre-application planning advice is available without charge for applicants.
Work or purchases must not begin before receiving and signing the Grant Offer Letter, as funding cannot be provided for any work already started or equipment already purchased.
The maximum grant available is up to £10,000 excluding VAT. The grant includes match funding of 80% for shop frontage improvements and 50% for interior improvements or new service offerings.
Applicants must be businesses with a shop front in Brackley Town Centre and have at least 12 months remaining on their lease after the grant is awarded. Applicants must also be independent retailers with full control over business decisions and must have landlord permission to carry out works. Franchise holders are not eligible for this funding.
