Deadline Date: June 24, 2026
The Live Performing Arts Production and Performance Grant Program is requesting applications to support eligible Saskatchewan individuals and companies involved in producing a series of live performances intended for paying audiences locally, nationally and internationally.
The program supports live performance art projects including theatre, dance, stand-up comedy, magic and illusions, spoken word and poetry, miming, puppetry, circus acts, and audio-based theatrical productions such as radio plays and audio dramas.
The grant focuses on commercial productions, touring projects, new works, old works presented in new markets, production and streaming activities, rehearsal-related expenses, festival application fees, fringe festival site fees, marketing activities directly connected to the project, and touring-related expenses.
Funding is provided in the form of a grant. Applicants may apply for up to CAD 35,000 or 50% of the total eligible project expenses, whichever is lower, per fiscal year. Eligible production expenses must be directly connected to the project and incurred during the approved project timeline.
Supported expenses include performer fees at Canadian Actors’ Equity Association industry standard rates, technical crew fees, rehearsal space rentals, touring expenses, and limited phone expenses related to touring activity outside the applicant’s home base. Marketing expenses are eligible up to 25% of the total project budget. The program also supports the production and streaming of live plays and commercial radio plays or audio dramas.
The program does not support community theatre productions, fringe festival hosting, theatre festivals, script development, writing or workshopping activities, guided tours, museum or heritage site tours, sporting events, competitions, or projects without commercial intent. Expenses involving royalties or compensation tied to box office revenue are also ineligible.
To qualify, applicants must be active practitioners in one of the creative industries recognized under The Creative Saskatchewan Act (2013), including book publishing, craft and visual arts, digital game development, film and television, live performing arts, and music. Applicants must demonstrate commercial intent and show ambition to expand their business activities beyond their current status.
Applicants must also be in good standing with Creative Saskatchewan. Eligible applicants may include individuals, corporations, non-profits, collectives, or groups of performing musicians that meet Saskatchewan residency and taxation requirements. Corporations and organizations must have a permanent establishment in Saskatchewan, majority Saskatchewan ownership, and must have filed income tax returns related to Saskatchewan income. Individuals must have filed a Saskatchewan income tax return in the preceding year or provide valid Saskatchewan identification if they recently returned to the province.
Political organizations, religious organizations, and organizations that discriminate based on culture, gender, race, religion, language, sexual orientation, economic status, political beliefs, or other conscientiously held beliefs are not eligible to apply.
