The Eugenio Garza Lagüera Entrepreneurship Institute is inviting applications for its acceleration program to develop capabilities and provide resources to startups with high business potential and climate impact, which show early evidence of market traction.
Areas of Interest
- Entrepreneurs must have a product or service with mitigation power and positive climate impact. The solution must align with at least one of the eligible impact areas:
- Energy access and generation
- Low emission transport
- Buildings, cities, industries and appliances
- Forestry and land use resources
Benefits of the Program
- As soon as the selected entrepreneurs start accessing a program with duration of 4 months, which includes:
- Grant without dilution from equity to €100 thousand euros
- Stematic Mentors and Experts
- Specialized content and workshops
- Linkage and strategic alliances
- Climate impact measurement
Eligibility Criteria
- Have a legally and formally registered business with tax domicile and in compliance with the applicable regulations in one of the following countries: Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, or Dominican Republic.
- The venture must have financial management capacity.
- Have a bank account in the name of the venture in a financial institution in the country where the company is formally incorporated or in one of the 8 eligible countries and that can receive euros, American dollars or Mexican pesos.
- The venture must be recently created and have a minimum viable product (MVP) or a technological maturity level TRL 5 or higher and traction evidence in the market.
- The venture presents a project that requires initial financing of 100,000 euros to carry out a pilot phase, strengthen their capabilities, scale your operational and commercial capabilities, improve their investment readiness, strengthen their climate impact, or undertake other eligible uses of the grant.
- Clearly indicate the need for financing of the venture (answer how the financial resources received will be invested).
- Offer a product or service that serves the public (that is, that not only a company is benefited, but a larger part of the population, following the GIZ guidelines: environment, Jimma, public goods, social benefits, job creation, poverty reduction, etc.).
- The partners of the venture must have a legal residence permit and permission to work in one of the previously mentioned countries.
- The freed service producer must reduce, mitigate or avoid greenhouse gas (GE!) emissions in one or more of the GCF Results Areas of Interest (-climate mitigation impact’).
- The venture must meet the following criteria: less than 50 employees. less than the equivalent of $3 million in assets and have generated less than the equivalent of $3 million annually.
- Describe in a clear and qualitative manner the climate mitigation potential of the product or service.
