The Australian Government is inviting applications for mRNA Victoria Research Acceleration Fund program to develop new RNA and mRNA-based vaccines and therapeutics.
Aims
- This program aims to support and accelerate RNA-based therapeutics research in Victoria.
Funding Information
- Funding of up to $500,000.
Eligible Projects
- Funding is available for projects that aim to develop a new mRNA-based medicine for human use (either prophylactic or treatment) with a clear pathway for translation. The program is agnostic to disease targets, but candidates must use mRNA technology.
Eligible Expenses
- Eligible expenditure includes:
- regulatory and intellectual property fees and charges associated with registering patents or IP
- equipment, consumables and services required for the research activity
- staffing costs related directly to the project.
Eligibility Criteria
- Organisations growing mRNA capability in Victoria.
- Applicants must be one of the following entity types:
- an incorporated company registered with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission
- an incorporated association
- education body
- public health service
- other incorporated entity approved by the agency.
- Additionally, applicants must:
- hold an active Australian business number (ABN)
- have appropriate insurance policies
- comply with any co-contribution requirements
- spend the majority of the grant funding in Victoria
- predominantly conduct and lead the research activities in Victoria.
