Applications open for Coolamon Shire Ardlethan Tin Mine Fund (Australia)

Deadline: 11 July 2025

The Coolamon Shire Council is now seeking applications for its Ardlethan Tin Mine Fund to support positive projects that improve community infrastructure or provide programs and support for local organisations across the Shire.

A local community fund has been established by Coolamon Shire Council through the Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) with the Ardlethan Tin Resource (ATR).

Funding Information

  • There is a funding allocation of $20,000 available for round 1.
  • Applicants may request funding starting from a minimum amount of $2,000.
  • A maximum level of funding per project has not been set by Council. However, in order to spread the money across the community Council will be looking to allocate the money to a number of projects. This may mean that Council will approve funding less than the requested dollar for dollar. There will clearly be cases where you may yourself wish to contribute more to the project.
  • From approval you will have up to 12 months to complete your project. Failure to achieve this requirement may see Council withdraw the funding.

Expected Outcomes

  • Funding requests should tick at least two of the below outcomes:
    • Increase community connection by invigorating community centres, halls and
    • public spaces  Support community health and overall well-being for community members
    • Increase the activation of community infrastructure
    • Improve existing assets to maximise utilization
    • Implementation of an innovative project

Ineligible Projects

  • Funding will not be provided for the following projects:
    • Projects or activities that do not focus on/or directly benefit the Coolamon Shire community and/or Ardlethan & Beckom District
    • Requests for ongoing operations or maintenance costs (eg: salaries, rent, insurance)
    • Where assistance is reasonably available from another source
    • If any current funding under this program remains outstanding
    • Purchase of a building

Eligibility Criteria

  • Community members/groups, businesses or clubs in the Coolamon Shire are invited to apply. Funds are limited and these guidelines have been prepared to assist you. Valid community projects include community infrastructure, programs and support to community organizations
  • The funding program is possible due to the Ardlethan Tin Mine VPA and therefore a focus of funding will be in the Ardlethan and Beckom district. This does not mean other applications will not be considered however a preference will be given to distributing funds in the local Ardlethan and Beckom districts.

Assessment Criteria

  • The following matters will be taken into account by the Council in assessing the priority of your application. Please note that it is not necessary for your project to meet all these criteria.
    • Demonstrates that the project delivers significant and measurable benefits to the community. Evidence of community consultation should be included if carried out.
      • Community benefits may be defined in activities that:
        • Encourage a vibrant, inclusive and resilient community
        • Build on and strengthen community assets
        • Promote local collaboration and partnerships
        • Increase participation in community life and strengthen social connections
        • Support diversity, equity and inclusion within the community
      • Provide how the project aligns with the Council’s strategic goals and community needs.
      • Projects that are visible to the public and can be utilised by a large number of the community members
      • Outline if the project has received any other funding
      • Demonstrates if applicant is financially contributing to the project by either cash or in-kind contributions
      • The applicant’s ability to demonstrate project management and financial responsibility

Application Requirements

  • Attachments and/or additional documents:
    • Proposed schedule/timeline of works
    • Project budget
    • Quotes – As with any work, you will need to get quotes and it is suggested that you get at least two (2) where possible. Put these costs alongside the schedule of work you have prepared.
    • Plans and sketches – Depending on the size of the job you may need plans to attach to your application for funding.
