The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom’s Cybersecurity Centre has opened a new call for funding to support small and medium-sized organisations in the implementation of the Cybersecurity Act (124/2025).
The focus of this funding opportunity is on assessment and development measures that comply with the requirements of Section 9 of the Cybersecurity Act. The measures are intended to assess and develop ways in which the operator manages risks and prevents or minimizes harmful effects on the security of communications networks and information systems.
The focus of the call is on strengthening research and innovation, supporting collaboration between higher education institutions, research organizations, companies, and public sector actors, enhancing knowledge transfer, fostering international cooperation, and promoting sustainable growth and competitiveness.
Financial support may be granted for eligible projects that strengthen cybersecurity capabilities in line with the objectives of the Cybersecurity Act. The maximum total amount of financial support available is EUR 2,000,000, with grants ranging from EUR 10,000 to EUR 100,000 per applicant and project. Support may cover up to 50% of total project costs, and funded projects must be implemented between 1 January and 31 December 2026.
Applications are open to micro, small and medium-sized legal entities and natural persons falling within the scope of the Cybersecurity Act, provided they are registered in the list of actors maintained by the authority supervising their own sector. The financial support is discretionary and awarded to applicants who best meet the eligibility criteria and score highest in the evaluation process conducted by an independent expert panel.
The deadline for applications is 16 October 2025 at 16:15. At least three application rounds will be organised between 2025 and 2029, with this first call offering significant opportunities for SMEs to enhance their cybersecurity resilience. A dedicated webinar will be held on 4 September 2025 to present the financial support and provide guidance to applicants.
